| Im looking at buying a used fishing boat something in the 19'-24' range, a good walleye/salmon/perch boat. Sag bay,Erie,St Clair,. Ive been looking at the above mantioned brands all with about the same amenities and all are about the same as far as lay out and length, and motor size.. Lund Sport fisherman 2100, Starcraft Islander 221v, Sylvan Offshore, and the Crestliner sabre. Everything elses being equal, same motor size, same amenities, why is the Lund so much more expensive or better yet why do Lund owners think its worth a cpl thousand $ more than the others...Im going to look at a Lund 2100 tomorrow morning and I need some ammo to use on this guy to get him to come down on his price to atleast entertain an offer thats close to all the others Ive looked at. Any help or suggestions?? or are Lund boats really just that much better and worth a cpl thousand dollars more than comparible boats?? |

For the same reason Harley Davidson is $1,000 more right off the top. When a product has been around for almost 100 years and has stood the test of time and many years of production without to many "TITANIC" moments, the name alone means better quality, relaiablity, duarbility, customer service and most times better re-sale value when taken care of.
And welcome to the forum Warden. Funny, same name/handle as my X-wife.

Yup, if she's in good/decent shape that is. Because even a diamond under that beautiful first glimpse can have a flaw that makes it worthless. Take somebody with you that has some boat experience if you can. Take it out on the water or at least run it and shift gears with Muffs on. Look a little deeper then the wax job on the hull. But (believe me) even that says something about the boat and the owner as well. |

| Having owned four differant brands of tin boats over the years, I finnaly bought (and still have a Lund). Lunds hold the best resale of all tin boats. After owning other brands, Lunds fit/finnish are IMHO opinion better and the ride unequaled. That said there are alot of good boat brands out there, pick the one that fits YOUR needs and if possible get a test ride try it out. Good luck, and have FUN in Your hunt. Bob |

| Im also looking for a new boat. I want a fiberglass but, my pocket book says Im getting another tin boat. The common phrase I here from alot of people when asking about the starcafts or alumacrafts is this "they are really nice boats, but there not a Lund!" Ive fished of all of the boats above and the lund is simply better. You get what you pay for IMHO. |

| Four summers ago I bought a Starcraft 196 Fishmaster. I looked at all kinds for the two yrs prior to that. Starcraft and Lund were the only manufacturers that made the style boat I was after. Bottom line is, the Lund was out of my budget. Im not saying it's a Lund but it will do anything a Lund will. We've had it everywhere from Lk Erie to Lake of the woods and have loved every minute of it. Don't feel cheated just because you don't want fork over the extra$$$. Take that extra money and go fishing... |

It's what I have and would take it any day over a Lund. Lot's of room to fish out of and has as much deck space as just about any glass boat under 24'. Granted it's not glass, but very sea worthy.
The only other aluminum boat I would go with is a Hewes Craft. |

| Well I thought I had a very nice 87-22' starcraft offshore sewed up but the guy sold it out from underneith me even after I offered him money to hold it, but anyways, now Im into looking at bayliner trophys 21-24 footers and still looking at the Lund Fishmaster..let me ask you this?? this Lund is an 88 with a 4.3v-6 its gonna need a floor real soon its rotted up both sides and really soft on the port side rear where you get into the boat. Other than some cosmetic fixes its pretty solid except for the floor, the trailer needs paint and tires something fierce..he's asking $6800 I was told a total floor replacement would be about $1000 if I did it myself so I was thinking about offering $5000-$5500 |
